Framework
My chosen framework was that I aim to focus the future of furniture through sustainable transition design. The way humans will interact with furniture in the future will contribute more than we expect for a healthier mental and physical lifestyle in terms of needing furniture for our comfortable lives, for sitting on, storage and relaxation. These impacts include a range of values such as human interaction, environmental cost and material consumption in the industry.
WHAT IF…
What if due to the world preferred to be in isolation whilst air pollution is increasing. There will be no other places to work out rather than home. Space and furniture will be used for more than one purpose. It will become a key feature in society’s lifestyle, more mentally than physically.
"The culture of office spaces at home will be used for more than one purpose. Furniture will become a key feature in society's lifestyle more mentally than physically.”
Promoting the product
I applyied a claustrophobia filter on my designs as it will become more convenient within the next years for office spaces, there will be no more empty spaces and less intense fear of enclosed spaces. The space is transitioning from an office environment to a place that humans can stay in one area for a long period of time to increase their concentration. With the artefact I'm creating I want to make claustrophobia/isolation seem like a beneficial way to focus on your own mental health.
To promote this artefact through mental wellbeing, is it expected to have neutral/natural friendly colours like Peach, brown and green. I've included the smoke grey as it symbolises physical tranquillity, nurture, warmth, love, sexuality, survival of the species. It also symbolises inhibition, emotional claustrophobia, emasculation, physical weakness. All these feelings are essential for the environment I'm creating, a utopia with hidden features of dystopia. It will not include it too much in the artefact as too much grey is physically draining and can be somewhat emasculating.
